Install Failed XP SP3

Double-clicked "DeskInstU.msi" from desktop and got dialog Box "Windows Installer" saying "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package." I had my Trend Micro Internet Security turned off. I am running XP Pro SP3 on Dell Vostro 400, 4GB RAM, Intel Core2 Duo 3GHz. Also Tried on my HP laptop nx9500a (XP Pro SP3, 2GB RAM, Pentium4 3.4GHz) and got same issue. Confirmed that no windows update was pending on either computer. Tried on Dell Inspiron 700M laptop running XP Pro SP2 (2GB RAM) and got a nearly identical error message. Greatly appreciate any guidance.

If the same download failed on all 3 machines, perhaps you got a corrupted download? Try downloading again -- there have been no other reports of install trouble.

I had the exact same problem. My second download must also have been corrupted. (WinDiff reported the two downloads as different.) The third download worked though. Thank you.
