I feel like a dope, but I just can't install Desktop Restore on my new XP workstation. I *think* the problem is that I can't *uninstall* the prior version. I recently upgraded my workstation from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. So I have a completely new C: drive, O/S (and registry I assume). But my profile from the older system was retained. When I try to install the latest DeskInstU.msi for XP. I get a message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". But I am pretty sure the problem is when it tries to UN-install the original package. If I go into Add-Remove programs - it is there. If I try to uninstall it - I get the same message. Ok - Fine. So it let's me browse to the resource that *is* available - and I get a message "The file (DeskInstU.msi) is not a valid installation package". Ok - Fine. So I copy what I think *is* the original installation package to a non-network directory on drive c: and browse to it - and it still get's the same message. Ok - Fine. - Maybe I don't have the correct "installation package". So I copied all of the older packages you have on your web site and tried each one. All were the same. Yikes! This shouldn't be so hard. I can't uninstall the old one or install the new one. What am I doing wrong ?? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Peter
