"DesktopCmd /Show" which could write the current configuration to the console out like "Monitor [1280 x 1024]"   2. DesktopCmd /Save /F "..." DesktopCmd /Restore /F "..."   which could save/restore the icon positions to something like "Monitor [1280 x 1024].DTR"   This would be a very "nice to have" feature for desktop users normally using the notebook's default resolution or another resolution with an external monitor.
