But today my Desktop has "vanished', that is all I get is an almost blank screen --- the shortcut icons are not there. A few other items are displayed, Gadgets and Sticky Notes. The PC now defaults to the Start Screen with its Tiles, which are OK, but clicking the Windows icon does not switch to the Desktop display. Peek does not work and probably more of a problem there is no right-click context menu, so I cannot try clicking 'Restore Desktop".   Fortunately the relevant files are not affected, and when they are found and clicked the app launches OK, eg. browsers, Mail --- so it is more an annoyance rather than the disaster I feared at first. But I have not been able to find an exe file for Restore to try.   Can you help please? Somehow the OS had got switched to Tablet mode. When this was reversed the Desktop icons re-appeared.
