cannot install

Hello, the latest version of Midiox (6.5.1) refuses to install. It asks for a Window Installer Update, so I downloaded instmsia.exe for my W98-system. This seems to unpack OK and I don't get any errors. However I am not sure it is really updating because even after a restart Midiox doesn't install, telling me I need a Window Installer Update. My old version of Midiox 6.4.2 did not have this problem. Anyone knows where to check and find if this Window Updater installed allright? Is it possible to compress Midiox in another, 'old-style' way?

The only installer for current and future versions of MIDI-OX is the Windows Installer. This is built into Windows XP and updates are available for Win 95, 98, ME: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=32831 and Win NT, 2000: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=32832 Make sure you have downloaded and run the correct version. If it's still a problem, you'll need help from Microsoft. There's a limit to how much we can do... Make sure the error message isn't really "A version of this program is already installed". If that is the message, you need to de-install the old MIDI-OX before installing the new one.

Thank you for your quick answer. The thing I don't understand is why version 6.4.2 installs without problem and version 6.5.1 does not. According to the internetpages you published a year ago ( I downloaded it all...) about this version 6.4.2 you already mentioned that if Midiox was unable to install one had to dowload this Windows Install Updater. I assume it had to function now as well. I've tried to install the new version on another computer and this works. Mystery...

6.4.2 used the older, buggier, Windows Installer.

Hello Jamie, Its working now, thank you for your patience! The problem was that the Windows Installer Update wasn't downloaded allright. When I used this false Updater it gave a message it had installed allright but it was not true. So I downloaded it again and now I was able to install Midiox goodbye and thanks
