Newbie can't install Midi-Ox on WinXP

I downloaded midioxse.exe from the website and when I try to run it a pop-up displays "midioxse.exe is not a valid Win32 application." My intent is to use Midi-Ox (Windows XP with SP-2) to help faciliate backups and loads from and to a DrumKat machine via midi interface. Any help or advice would be appreciated. -Carla

I would guess you got a corrupted download, because it certainly IS a valid Win32 application (a self-extracting installer).

| I'm having the same problem. I didn't want to start a new thread, but I get the exact same message. I'm using XP and I obtained the latest file from this website. I searched and only ran across this thread. Am I missing something? (I see it's been a couple of years). Thanks

Try downloading a new copy. The files size is 820,224 Bytes. Make sure you install it with administrator privileges.

I've tried a couple times since, and tried again this AM. The file size is right, I have admin privileges, but it still won't install. Strange. I tried an older version and it installed normally. My guess is if nobody else is having the problem, I must have some security setting or something stopping things.

I just tried it myself and got a good download and the installer started up. Since it was already installed I only had the option to REPAIR or REMOVE. Try right-clicking the MIDIOXSE.EXE file and choose properties. At the bottom of the properties choose: [Unblock] (on XP sp3). If that option is not there, the file is not blocked. One other possibility is to use Winzip (www.winzip.com) to extract the Moxsetup.msi file and then run that from the command line (or double-click).

Thanks, Jamie. I got it to work by downloading to a flashdrive on a different machine. It installed without a hitch. I don't know why, but the file kept ending up corrupted when I tried to download directly to this machine. It obviously is a problem on my end. Thanks, again!
