Problems after upgrade to Windows Xp

I recently upgraded my Windows 98SE system to Windows XP. For a year I have been running quite a complex vbscript without any problems at all. Now midiox crashes at least once every couple of minutes when running the script. I have not changed anything apart from the OS. I tried the same thing on my XP laptop - same problem. Has anybody else had problems like this with XP? Any ideas? Midi setup is USB midispot x2 and soundblaster interface. I could put the script up on a web site if anybody was willing to take a look at it. Andy

No replies yet. I have made a dual boot system with my computer so that I can run XP and Win98SE. My script works fine again now back in 98SE. So perhaps be warned that if you have a complex script it might not be compatible with XP. I also noticed that the midiyoke for NT/XP is nowhere near so reliable. Again it would not work properly with my complex setup in XP. So the moral seems to be, at least from my experience, that if you want to do complex things with midiox, scripting and midiyoke, then think very carefully before upgrading to XP, especially as making a dual boot system after converting drives to ntfs can be tricky! We've been out for the holidays. What type of crashing have you been getting in MIDI-OX? Do you get an error message or a watson dump or? If you want us to look at the script, send it to the email icon on this message. MIDI Yoke is fundamentally different on XP (completely different code), but should operate in a fairly equivalent fashion. What problems have you had?

I too have had problems after upgrading to XP recently. I've posted details in another thread but it's a lot more basic than your issue. I'm finding that I get lots of hiccups and stuttering in XP just with teh simplest of setups (no scripts or anything like that) - whereas it all worked flawlessly in Me and in 98 and 95 before that. I hope there's a fix because I really need that MIDI-Ox functionality in my setup.

I didn't upgrade, but started using Midiox and Midiyoke after buying a laptop with XP. Never had any problems, and use some particularly complex scripts (self-programmed sequencers and the like.) Are you sure that your sound-card and MIDI-setups are really working as they should? If so, then examine the code you had been using in 98SE and see if it is really as portable as it should be (for instance, WSH may have certain peculiarities due to the platform.)

| I realise this is an old thread, but having just started using XP for MIDI, on a system that far more powerful than the WIn 98 one I had, I am finding exactly the same trouble. I have used MYoke, wrapped in MIDI Ox and Hubis (which cannot create ports, but will run OK as a router under XP). I have also tried the Maple port system, again with MIDI Ox and Hubis as controllers. All have caused massive stuttering when I carry out any other process; even scrolling a Notepad text etc. So it's not just MIDI Yoke. It's not just MIDI Ox. Trying to use XGEDIT etc is just a joke. Has any further progress been made on this anywhere.
