Error on XP Installation

I've downloaded and attempted installation of MIDI Yoke NT 1.71 (44K 09-21-02) on XP home system after going through the add hardware wizard and providing the path to oemsetup file, installation seems to begin, and i receive a dialog box that seems to indicate that a file is being extracted. however, shortly after, get a dialog box that states that "an error occurred during the installation of this device" and that "the system cannot find the file specified".... has anyone encountered this? if so, any recommendations on how to resolve?

A number of people run into this. It is caused by a Windows Bug. We have a link to an explanation and solution to the problem in the FAQ. Here is the LINK. You basically need to edit some registry settings to remove spurious extra references to WDMAUD.DRV.

would a registry cleaner of some kind (Registry First Aid 3.4) or something similar do this automatically? i've been thinking of getting something like that and if i can kill two problems that'd be cool...messing with the registry scares me to death, but i'm having the same issue as above.... thanx, b.
