Mapping channel 1 MIDI data to some other MIDI ch

Hi all and first really hat off for this amazing tool. I couldn't live without it... What I'd like to do: I have this Korg legacy MS20i controller that only sends data on channel 1, which is connected to one Midi Yoke port. I also have a evolution X-session controller connected to the same port. That ports is used in Xlutop chainer where I have different synths on different midi channel. So changing the midi channel addresses a different instrument. I'd like to map one or two button of the Evolution to make it change channel. In other words i need to find a way to make the data that comes in from the MS20i on channel 1 to go out to some Midi Yoke port on a different channel, and I need to be able to chose the channel number with one or two buttons from the Evolution. Is it possible ?

Thanx a lot, it worked ! But now I have another issue. I should have told before maybe: I also have a M-Audio keystation connected to the laptop, and I would like it NOT to be concerned by the channel mapping. Is it possible to make some MIDI port not concerned by the mapping ?

I do this by using Ch 1 to Ch 10 for stuff I want re-routed and Ch 11 to Ch 16 for stuff I want left alone. My maps ignore data on the upper channels. Ideally you'd be able to do the dynamic mapping trick for an individual port routing. Open the MIDI Port Routing window (View->Port Routings...), you'll see your current the connections. Each has a little square on it. Click that for the connection properties. You can specify a connection-specific map file - but I don't think you can change it without resorting to scripting (and that's beyond me!).

I am new to all of this and also have mapping questions. I have tried to decipher the current thread and will continue to try to learn from what is out there. Here are my setup and issues: 1. Lower keyboard Yamaha DGX305 transmits on all Channels. 2. Upper keyboard EMU EBOARD 61 midi controller 3. PC software VST wrapper Brainspawn's FORTE. In FORTE, I have 4 VST instruments, as follows: CH 01 Native Instruments Akoutik Piano CH 02 Proteus X Ch 03 Native Instruments Kontakt 2 Ch 04 Native Instruments FM8 CH 05 A VST Minimoog What I want to do is have CH 01 03 and 04 be controlled from the Yamaha keyboard and CH 05 controlled by the EMU controller set to transmit on CH 02. The reason for the above is due to wanting to assign continuous controller knobs on the EMU board to control the CC 07 volumes of instruments on the various channels. In other words, I want to assign 5 knobs on the EMU to CC 07 for the respective channels, so that I can control each instrument's volume separately - all from the EMU, which will be using CH 02 to drive Proteus X software, and want to clone midi from CH 01 to CH 03 and CH 04, and CH 02 to CH 05. This will allow me to layer sounds for each of the two keyboards, where I retain volume control of each instrument. How do I properly set up such an operation with regard to MIDIOX? Bob Bone

So... *any* message on Ch 1 to be cloned to Ch 3 and Ch 4. CCn1 message on Ch 2 -> Ch1 CC07 CCn2 message on Ch 2 -> Ch3 CC07 CCn3 message on Ch 2 -> Ch4 CC07 CCn4 message on Ch 2 -> Ch5 CC07 *any other* message on Ch 2 to be cloned to Ch 5. Is that right? (CCn1..CCn4 are the controllers you want to control volume on the other channels. I assume you'll use CC07 to control volume on Ch 2.) If so, that's pretty much what you type into the Data Mapping.
