Roland SPD-20, FD-8, Addictive Drums & Cubase

I've read lots of the posts online but I'm afraid I am still struggling to create the correct configuration. My set up is: Presonus Firebox audio/midi interface Cubase Studio 4 (Windows XP SP3) Roland SPD-20 percussion pad Roland FD-8 hi-hat peddle XLN Addictive Drums Midi-OX Midi-Yoke eDrum Midi Mapper I am trying to connect the SPD-20 and FD-8 to the eDrum Midi Mapper so that I can transform/map the midi notes that get played by XLN Addictive Drums (in particular, open/closed hi-hat variations). Question 1 Do I need both Midi-OX and Midi-Yoke for this setup or just Midi-Yoke? Question 2 What should the setup look like. I would have thought it could be: A. If no use of Midi-OX: eDrum Midi Mapper input set to Midi Yoke 1, eDrum Midi Mapper output set to Midi Yoke 2 But then what special settings do I need to make on Cubase. If XLN Addictive Drums is set up as an instrument (as it usually is), do I specify the Midi Input as Midi Yoke 2 while making sure that in the Device Setup Midi Menu within Cubase, Midi Yoke 1 is specified as a midi output? or have I misunderstood what's going on with Midi and should it be: B. Use Midi-OX and Midi-Yoke. Midi-OX input set to Presonus Firebox Midi input Midi-OX output set to Midi Yoke 1 eDrum Midi Mapper input set to Midi Yoke 1, eDrum Midi Mapper output set to Midi Yoke 2 Midi-OX input set to ?? Midi-OX output set to Presonus Firebox Midi output As you can tell I am making a real hash of this and could really do with some good advice. Many many thanks in advance. PS When I make the configuration - do I always have to do so before opening Cubase? I regularly get messages saying that either the Presonus midi input or midi output (depending on which I try to connect) is already being used by another application (i.e. Cubase) and that I should close that application and try again?

On your final point: for most MIDI interfaces, only one program can access them at once (which makes a fair degree of sense, although MIDI Yoke doesn't have this constraint). It's usually easier to start by drawing it out on paper and I can see you've had a stab at it. You've got some external hardware. That's plugged in to your Firebox: [External h/w MIDI Out] -> [FireBox MIDI In] You want eDrum MIDI Mapper to handle the input from the hardware, so it needs to receive the data: [FireBox MIDI In] -> [eDrum MIDI Mapper] You then need to send the data somewhere. If it were external hardware, you'd do: [eDrum MIDI Mapper] -> [FireBox MIDI Out] but you want to connect to Cubase, which is software. This is where MIDI Yoke comes in. You need a "virtual cable". [eDrum MIDI Mapper] -> [Out to MIDI Yoke 1] So then into Cubase: [In from MIDI Yoke 1] -> [Cubase] If you're hosting Addictive Drums in Cubase, then you're done.

Dear Peter, Many thanks and what an embarrassingly easy solution. Tried your recommendation last night and it worked perfectly. This is just what the web should be for - people helping each other for positive ends! Thanks again and kind regards.
