MIDI MAPPING TRANSLATION HELP NEEDED

Hi,

I am trying to map my korg kaos pad 1 so I can use the X/Y to control effects in ableton. I've managed it so far in that I can control ableton with it but with one fundemental problem...

The kaoss pads X- axis outputs pitch bend from - 8192 to + 8192

But the Y - axis outputs from the bottom of the y axis to the middle   bredth 127 to 0

Then from the middle of the Y - axis to the top modulation 0 to 127.

I basically need to translate the X- axis pitch bend -8192 to +8192 translated to CC 0 to 127

And the Y-axis bredth 127 to 0 and modulation 0 to 127 in to one single output of CC 0 to 127.

Currently the way I have mapped it means that the X works fine but when you go past the middle of the Y -axis it recirculates through ie scroll top to bottom you get down movement to the bottom but then when you cross the middle of the Y - axis it starts to go back up to the top.

Any ideasHuh

Thanks in advance

ANDY

Hi mcinnes01,

In case you haven't tried, a suggestion is that you watch the MIDI-data being output by what you are trying to change.

You see the controllerNumber that relates to the physical device, and the data it sends as you move the  device.

Then, I'd write those down, study them, and when they make sense, usually inspiration strikes.

Sometimes the Devil gets in the way of inspiration, though.

Or good help from Jamie hopefully is on its way. Smiley
