assigning different notes to keyboard

Hi, newbie here.

Could anyone tell me how to go about assigning different notes to keys on a keyboard controller, please?

eg, change middle c to f, change d to g.

I see that you can reverse the keyboard from low to high (for lefties I suppose), so I'm sure this is possible, but I'm a musician not a clever person, and I have a fiendishly cunning plan that cannot fail. Wink

My controller is an Oxygen 8 if this is any help.

Thanks, fil.

First off, forget note names and think in MIDI note numbers, or you'll get confused.

Then it's just a matter of deciding which note numbers you want to affect and writing a data mapping containing each one.

Hi, thanks for that.

Is there a tutorial somewhere that will teach me how to do as you suggest?

Thanks again,

Hi again,

Ignore my last post, please.

I have found a solution here;

http://www.serious-sounds.net/music-production/community/topic/12287-tra nsforming-midi-cc-data-to-notes-and-vice-versa-using-midi-ox/index.php?act=Login&CODE=00

My problem now is that I cant install Midi Yoke on my pc (windows vista).

Can anyone suggest what the [problem might be?

Thanks again,

fil.

Running Vista.

Well, UAC on Vista, anyway, is meant to be a real pain.  (I've yet to try getting MIDI Yoke installed on Win7 - it's meant to be worse... I keep getting to the point of setting it up and thinking "Oh, later...")

-edit-
I finally broke down and did it.  The instructions are already here, in the MidiYoke Installer section.  It's a lot easier than it sounds.

Thanks Peter,

Got it.

I'm away until next week so can't give it a go until then.
