2 devices on same MIDI channel, how to change one?

Hi! I have 2 MIDI controllers that send on the same channel. Obviously that's a problem. I've tried some mappings in MIDIOX but I didn't find any possibility to say "map controller 2 to channel x". Can someone help me please? Greetings from Italy Andy

Are the two controllers on the same MIDI port? If so, there's nothing you can do. Otherwise, you're in luck. If you've not already done so, install MIDI Yoke (or some other virtual MIDI cable), as you'll need that too. You then need to "wire" things up like this: [MIDI In Port A] -> ...[final destination] [MIDI In Port B] -> [MIDI OX - Data Mapping] -> [MIDI Yoke Out 1 ... MIDI Yoke In 1] -> ...[final destination] The "Data Mapping" will contain a single element to map the Channel on the incoming message to whatever new value you'd like.

Hi Peter, what you mean with PORT? In MIDIOX the PORT column is empty on both. I've already installed MIDI-Yoke as the software I use allows only 1 MIDI input. On the screenshot you can see 2 lines of controller A (the last 2 lines in INPUT and OUTPUT windows) and 2 lines of controller B (the 2 lines before). Thank you again Andy

In the "MIDI Port Routing" window, the left hand side is headed "Input Ports". That's what I mean when I say "MIDI Port". In any case, you only want MIDI OX to have the Port open on which the device you're mapping is connected. OK, as you need to use MIDI OX to do MIDI Merge as well as (now) MIDI Mapping, it's a little trickier. Again, looking at the "MIDI Port Routing" window, you'll see each connection has a grey square on it. Right-click this, pick properties and you'll see a "Map File" drop down. This lets you pick a previously-saved Data Mapping specific to that connection. You get to pick from the ones in the MIDI OX Program Files folder - so after creating the one you need, copy it there and restart MIDI OX. Hopefully it'll be listed.
