Support for layers

MIDI-OX would be extremely versatile if it would able to support the creation of mapping layers. The layers each having their own custom maps could be triggered by a midi event etc., allowing more possibilities on your controller.

This would allow "shift" buttons often found in native maps  in DJ software to be emulated by MIDI-OX. To perfect the experience LED on/off events could also be sent through midi out to the controller to display which layer is activated.

Have you discovered patch maps?

Hi I'm new to this forum.
The requirement I think is to be able to have several mapping files in operation at the same time. So for example, you could have a background filter handling your setup, and then use a program change to add on top a keyboard split filter to drop in some strings over the middle part of the keyboard.
At the moment the patch mapping can change the data map, but not add a new one or apply extra rules.

I am thinking about designing my own program using the midi-ox server, in order to get the funtionality I need.

I mean, the actual processing is very simple, checking variables and modifying etc.

Simon.
