Mapping midi to VST plug ins

Hi, With a VST plug in like Decabuddy or Antares Harmony Machine, how does one route midi to it? In VST or Sonar, midi can be routed to Harmony Engine. But if it's being used in a different program, how can it be done? Harmong Engine and Decabuddy do not show up as as available destination in Midi ox. Harmony Engine's midi receive channels are set to 1, 2, 3 & 4 and are not changeable. It also has no facility to choose a midi source. Decabuddy has a facility to set the midi receive channel, but has no facility to select a midi sourse. VST has a way of sending midi date to these units. How could one get Midi ox to send midi data to them? Regards Brian

| The host program (like Sonar) routes the Midi to it. Quote: In VST or Sonar, midi can be routed to Harmony Engine. But if it's being used in a different program, how can it be done? |
| Again this other host program should route Midi to the VST Quote: Harmong Engine and Decabuddy do not show up as as available destination in Midi ox. | I think your problems are that a VST plugin need a host program to plug into and can't access the Midi input itself. There are a number of plugins that have an standalone applications. This makes it confusing because it appears that a VST can be run outside a host application. Not all VST plugins have this facility. Also ..."Harmony Engine's MIDI functions require that your host allow routing of MIDI to plug-ins. If your host application does not support the routing of MIDI to plug-ins, Harmony Engine's MIDI functions will not operate" ... but most do. All the best Royce
