Two controller keyboards going to one keyboard

I got to page 6 of this forum before giving up.

This should be so simple but I cannot figure it out.

Keyboard 1 - Yamaha 88-key P105 connected via USB.  Transmitting on Channel 1 (but I could change that).
Keyboard 2 - Yamaha 88-key DGX-640 connected via USB.  Transmitting on Channel 1 (and I CANNOT change this).
Keyboard 3 - Yamaha XF7 connected via USB.  In Song mode (which means there are 16 tracks of voices sitting there waiting to be played all with corresponding MIDI channels that line up 1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3, etc.).

All I want to do is have Keyboard 1 ALWAYS go to MIDI Channel 1 on the XF7.
Keyboard 2 needs to be able to switch back and forth between MIDI channels 2-16 on the XF7 but I CANNOT change the MIDI OUT channel of Keyboard 2.  I want to simply click on something in MIDIOX and immediately have the MIDI stream from Keyboard 2 switch from channel 3 to channel 4 (for example).

Two keyboardists in a band who both like weighted keys but the "brain" or main "sound engine" is the XF7.

In Sonar this is drop dead simple...but I don't want to run a huge DAW just to do simple MIDI routing.

Oh...and by the way, the lovely XF7 only allows ONE MIDI connection to be "dominant" (even though it has USB, normal 5-pin din, and firewire MIDI...sheesh).

I'm sure it's simple...I can draw what I want if that would help.

I got close when I played with Data Mapping Transforms, but it seemed like in order to switch channels (and have Keyboard 2 sending on channel 3 from 2 for example), I had to change the order of the mappings??  Weird.  I should just be able to click on the concept of a Track or Channel or something and immediately MIDIOX routes the incoming MIDI from Keyboard 2 from Channel 1 (its default UNCHANGABLE channel) to channel 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 on the XF7.

Hope I made sense.

Sincerely,

Hi Kevin
you can create mapping files with the Channel 1 to Channel x (16 files).
You can then set up the Midi port routing - merging  Kbd1 and Kbd2 to XF7.
Click on the box in the middle of the line between the Kbd2 and the XF7 and load the Channel1 to Channel 2 map then save  the profile.
Do this for all the Channel maps. ie 16 profiles

Now to change the setup, load a new profile.

Not the best if you have to do it in real time.

How much time between changes do you have?

Can you write a map that outputs Kbd2 to all channels and mute the tracks you don't need on the XF7 (granted not a good solution)

And the big question, why do you need to change channels instead of patches??
Are you playing a midi backing track at the same time?

All the best
Royce
