Multiple MIDI outputs, sorted by instrument

Hi all, I'm a novice at MIDI messages, so sorry if this is a stupid question. I have a digital piano (Roland P105) hooked up to a PC that is also running a software MIDI synth (Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth). I would like to configure this system so any arbitrary MIDI file or input source sends piano notes to the Yamaha, and anything else to the software synth. I was hoping I'd be able to make a filter for the digital synth that detected a "channel x program change to piano", and somehow killed that channel. The opposite would be true for the Yamaha. I could write a program that keeps track of what channels are currently set to what instruments and do the routing myself, but it seems like a steep learning curve for something that may be easy for MIDI-OX. Cheers

I ended up just writing a program to do it - it wasn't anywhere near as much work as I was expecting. Thanks anyway.
