Disabling midi messages from a single sensor

Hi everybody, I own SL88 Studio /Fatar TP100LR keybed with 3 sensors/, not bad controller ,but the distance between the graphite contacts on the rubber strip is too close /they are 3 for each key/ and when I play easy, gentle, I get often midi notes interrupted - short midi note with desired velocity, brief interrupt /caused by slight unintentional move of the hand/, followed by normal length midi note with near zero velocity. And this is only because they placed 3 contacts per key and the key has about 1.5 mm move from off to on. It's terrible. - My question is- is there a way to isolate the middle 2nd contact, so its midi messages only to be disabled with some kind of mapping? As far as I know, other manufacturers such as Arturia, Nord, etc. do use the same Fatar keybed, but with 2 sensors enabled only, most likely because of this abnormal short distance between the contacts. Thanks in advance for any help

Hi that sounds like a faulty keyboard I would take it back for repair if you can. If not, I would strip it down and make sure things haven't come loose. Although Fatar don't seem to want to make the mechanical details too public, it looks like a standard 2 contact velocity sensing key bed to me. I couldn't see the third contact from their web pictures. There is not much Midiox can do as it couldn't distinguish between a faulty note and a deliberate staccato. Sorry I can't be of more help Royce

Hi, thanks for your answer. Actually I fixed it. And the reason is: sensors are too close; I lifted the circuit board with 1 mm. from the inner side, the distance btw sensors is now increased, no problems anymore; will upload a video at YT soon /I'll post a link here if you are interested/. This is a constructive issue, who can expect... Edit: About the sensors- I was wrong, they are 3, the first one is off/sus/on; the second is velocity sensing, the third one generates sound. They announced "three sensors for a key" and I expected a triple sensor system inside like on Casio or Kawai, something advanced and improved. Nothing of the sort. There are three graphite contacts on a single circuit board under the keys.

Hi Boyan very well researched and looks close to totally fixing your problem. After so much careful work I would let Fatar know and see if they have any thoughts especially as this look like their flagship keyboard. Well done All the best Royce

Thanks for your kind words, Royce. I suspect they know what they did. Other owners who asked the SL support about this issue, got a reply to apply a grease on the plastic mechanism and everything will be fine... I don't believe they will admit that the SL Studio controllers have some kind of structural imperfection in public. I'm not in a hurry to let them know about the video, maybe someone of the channel viewers will do this. Best, Boyan
