ux16 driver uninstall leaving artifact in sys

Hi, I want to stop using this yamaha ux16 midi interface, but when I uninstall it, it leaves an invalid device (midiox recognizes it as devcaps out) in the system which some programs work around and some don't. My system is XP pro, Sp1 on a dell GX270 2.8 P4, latest BIOS. I thought if anyone anywhere knew something about this kind of situation maybe I could get some answers here. p.s. I have reinstalled ux driver, updated to most recent version, uninstalled again, to no avail Thanx in advance, John

Yamaha is not so good about cleaing up. You may need to edit the registry to get rid of mention of the older Yamaha Drivers. Try checking this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32 In there will be various MidiN values (N = 1,2,3...9). Delete any values relating to the Yamaha drivers (I recall they're similar to 'ysubxxx'). Then reboot.

Many thanks Jamie, it worked like a charm! And now I can say I edited my registry. John S
