noobi to midi, a little help please?

Hi all, don't know if there is a noobi section, so I'm posting it here. I've built and set up a 8 way midi drum set, and a break-out box to convert the midi to use the sound card game port. All good so far, the midi drums use channel 10, and are supposed to use the "default" midi map. I hit the triggers, and I get sound out the PC! How do I assign midiox to use the default midi map? Or any other drum midi map, for that matter. I am getting whistles and all sorts of other sounds, depending on how hard I hit the trigger! If I look at the midiox midi output screen, I see the musical key ( F, G) changes dependant on how hard I hit the (same) trigger. It seems like the instrument been seen as the input midi instrument is not set to drum, but something else. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

All sorted! Found I was getting spurious cross triggering INSIDE the drum box. Will replace the wires from the triggers sockets to the PCB with shielded cable. Later Len
