Korg & Midi-Ox

I can't for the love of all that is midi, get Midi-ox to transmit sysex data to my Korg M1. In Cubase I have a .dev file that means I can send stuff to and from my PC but Midi-ox doesn't seem to do it. In Cubase I have to tell it to send slow (due to the age of the Korg) could this be the problem? Any ideas would be greatfully received (unlike the data from my PC to the M1)

Does MIDI-OX send it, but the M1 not receive it? In other words, do you see the SysEx data stream by in the Monitor Window? If not, make sure that you have Options | Pass SysEx checked. If so, you can slow down transmission by going into the SysEx View: SysEx | Configure... and make sure that [x] Delay after F7 is checked. Try increasing the delay milliseconds from 60 to 120. If that works you can try reducing it.

Thanks for the advice but I have tried the delay with no joy I now know that my M1 is able to send sysex information as I have done a program dump (which worked). As I said before, I used to use a program called WM1 which was very basic but worked. Am I barking up the wrong tree here? I was actually expecting the instruments on the M1 to change from what they are now to a bunch of new sounds (and names). Don't you just love technology Cheers Zomzom

How the instrument reacts depends on what is contained in the SysEx data. The data is Exclusive to the particular machine. So you see the data stream by in the monitor, but sending it has no effect on the M1?

No effect whatsoever. As I mentioned in my previous post, I can, and have, managed to dump from the M1 to Midi-Ox but not the other way around. i even bit the bullet and checked that my leads were OK (that's how psycho I'm getting). The sysex data I'm using, does contain all the information necessary to change the programs (sounds and names) as I've used the sames sysex data but in WM1 not Midi-Ox. Frustration

The only other suggestion I have is to try adjusting the size of your SysEx buffers. If they are large enough, the messages might be sent more cleanly, when not split among buffers. Try setting up 16 buffers, each 512 bytes in size. I was going to suggest that there might be a problem with your MIDI interface, or driver, but if you are able to send SysEx using both Cubase and this WM1 program; using this interface that is unlikely.
