Data capacity of yoke nodes ?

hi

I have 2 controller keyboards and a Control Freak funnelled into a single node

e.g. keyboards -----> yoke 1
 CF ------------> yoke 2
 yoke 1 + 2 -------> yoke 3

This is so I can have midi tracks in Cubase SX controlled by a single Midi input (e.g. yoke 3).

Is there a danger of overloading yoke 3 ?

No problems so far.

cheers

There is no danger of overloading, but in your description is seems that and important piece is missing?  What are you using to attach MIDI Yoke 1 + 2 to MIDI Yoke 3?

The other thing I wanted to mention is that I think you could use a single MIDI Yoke port to accomplish the same goal, as MIDI Yoke allows up to 4 separate applications to be connected to each MIDI Yoke port.  So you'd have:

e.g. keyboards -----> yoke 1 (connected via MIDI-OX)
 CF ------------> yoke 1 (connected via MIDI-OX)

MIDI tracks in Cubase SX will be controlled by a single Midi input (e.g. yoke 1).

thanks

I'm assigning yoke 1 +2 to yoke 3 in another instance of MidiOx. I have 5 launching at startup:

sw1000 midi in (keyboard 1) -----> yoke 1
mpu401 onboard midi in (keyboard 2) ----> yoke 1
multiface midi in (CF) -----> yoke 2
yoke 1 + 2 --------> yoke 3
yoke 4 -------> sw1000 midi out

Although the new sw1000 win2000/xp drivers are supposed to be multiclient they seem abit dodgy sometimes therefore I prefer to have yoke 4 as a multiclient output (xgpad software also needs to access sw1000 midi out).

Actually, couldn't I combine the 1st 2 two as one instance ?

This allows me to use yoke 1 or 2 separately as a midi input in Cubase if I need to.

Is this stupid ?

The thing is, because I shall probably never need all 8 yokes I thought that it would be more flexible to route this way.

It seems to work anyway !

Yes, I think you could.

I only mentioned this to make sure you knew all your options.  I don't think any method of working is stupid, and I recommend working in the way that suits you best  Wink
