How to use instrument definitions correctly?

Hi As a newbie to midi-ox I'm stuck with applying my instrument definitions. I have 2 files which I use successfully in Sonar for the Keyboard Ketron SD1: File 1 contains 3 banks for the midi channels 1-8 / 11 - 16, file 2 contains 1 bank with live drums for channel 9, and 1 bank with standard drums for channel 10. If I record midi in Sonar it recognises the bank number and program patch on every midi channel and displays the correct sound name. How can I do the same in midi-ox? Basically I'm stuck with 2 questions: - How can I attach 2 files to the different midi channels in the instrument menue, which are simultaneously active? - Can midi-ox not recognise the bank nbr and patch nbr and locate the correct sound name among the 3 banks assigned to midi channels 1-8 / 11-16)? It seems to me that I have to select the bank beforehand, but I don't want to do this, as every midi channel can contain any patch of one of the 3 banks. To make it simple: I want to receive all midi strings accross the 16 channels from my keyboard and get displayed the correct sound and drum patches. This requires that both ins files are simultaneously active and midi-ox locates automatically accross the banks the correct patch. Is the instrument menue not meant for this? Brgds and tnx for any assistance! Hansruedi

Unlike SONAR, MIDI-OX only supports a single global Instrument definition to be active at a time. SONAR supports mapping an instrument definition to each different MIDI channel on each different port. I'll add your request to the list, but it would be a fairly big job.

Thanks Jamie for the clarification! My thread was not meant as a request, I'm rather happy to read that this function is not foreseen because I thought I was doing a handling error! Nevertheless MIDI-OX is an outstanding tool; I could have saved a lot of time had I made its acquaintance earlier! Brgds Hansruedi
