Can I back up the Yamaha 01v?

Hi, I've got a little question about your fab MIDI-OX software... I'm the sound engineer/keytech for The Stranglers and we've been using a Yamaha 01v (amongst a load of other stuff) for years. I've been happily backing up all sysex data for all our other gear thru Cubase on a laptop but had the shock horror of horrors when arriving in Australia and trying to dump all our data back into a rented 01v. IT WOULDN'T WORK!! I eventually contacted Yamaha to find out that the 01v was known to be problematic when using computer sequencers to send/receive sysex! They said it was something about the way the sysex packets were sent/received. Anyone know or have experience to say if I can rely on MIDI-OX to do this? ...I'm just trying to avoid getting a Yamaha Midi Data Filer (which Yamaha assure me SHOULD work) if I have to cuz the laptop way works for everything else! Thanx for your time...

MIDI-OX should work fine for this purpose as long as you have a reliable exterernal MIDI interface. I would recommend testing with some SysEx transfers to/from MIDI-OX to test your mileage.
