Roland D50 not accepting sysex from Midi-Ox

I can't believe I'm asking for help as I am not a newbie of all things midi. I am downloading free patches from the internet. Most are sysex in Midi-Ox file format. Midi-Ox opens the files no problem, and I am transmitting from Midi-Ox no problem as I can see data at the midi out port of my midi interface (data indicator), however the D50 is ignoring the data. I typically use MidiQuest for sysex dumps with no problem, so I know all my connections are good. I have "Pass SysEx" checked and all midi ports are correctly assigned. What am I doing wrong? TIA

Have you tried adjusting the timing parameters under "View->Sysex... Sysex->Configure..."? If not, try smaller buffers with a larger delay to give the D50 time to keep up with your PC.

Thanks Peter for the reply. I have tried your suggestions with lower buffers and longer delay times and still no luck. I know when using my patch/librarian software from Sound Quest that dumps and loads happen extremely fast so I don't think it's an issue with the keyboard trying to keep up with the computer. I wonder if anyone out there is using Midi-Ox with a Roland D50 successfully?

What is/is not happening? What are your settings in SysEx | Configure? What is your MIDI interface and how does it attach (USB)?

I have a USB Midi cable attachd to my laptop running Windows XP Pro. I have the Midi-OX software set to default settings. Input and output is opened. The Roland D50 is turned on. Write protect set to OFF. This the procedure that I have done: Press "Data Transfer", and select "b. Load" then press "Enter" When I press enter I get a midi communication error. So, then I try to repeat the procedure again with holding the "Data Transfer" button while pressing "Enter" When I do this the D50 goes in to "Waiting" mode then I execute Midi-OX. After which the error occurs again. Then I tried what was posted previously but others on this thread and tried without doing the procedure as they mentioned worked for them but no luck. The Roland did not receive what I was trying to load with Midi-OX. I am wondering if there is something that I am doing or not that would help remedy my situation and allow me to load a SysEx file to my D50. Can anyone help? Is this a good explaination? Thanks

I wrestled with this as well and my solution was similar to others offered, but a little different: Write Protect: OFF MIDI EXLU: OFF (press MIDI button and scroll over to MIDI-3 and you will find it on the right side of the screen) PRESS AND HOLD the Data Transfer button and, while still holding, press SPLIT POINT button (for B.LOAD) and then release both the Data Transfer and Split Point button. Next press enter and then start the transfer from MIDI-OX I hope this helps.
