Rerouting MIDI channels

How do I route channels 1-16 from Midi Yoke 1 out to Midi Yoke 2, and route channels 17-23 from Midi Yoke 1 out to channels 1-7 on Midi Yoke 3?  The composition software I'm using allows only one midi output.

Here's what I'm trying to do:

1. Midi channels 1-23 from PrintMusic are sent out to Midi Yoke 1 (I can do this step)

2. Channels 1-16 from Midi Yoke 1 are sent out to channels 1-16 on Midi Yoke 2

3. Channels 17-23 from Midi Yoke 1 are redirected to channels 1-7 on Midi Yoke 3

4. Data from both Midi Yoke 2 and Midi Yoke 3 are used in Kontakt Player (I can also do this step)

Is this possible?  Thanks.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do.  If your software only supports a single MIDI Port for output, then you can only access 16 MIDI channels (as a MIDI Port can only carry 16 channels).

But disregarding that... yes, you can split by channel number.

1. Open up Options->MIDI Devices...
2. Select your MIDI Input (MIDI Yoke 1)
3. Select your MIDI Outputs (Yokes 2 and 3)
4. In the "Port Mapping" pane, check each output has Yoke 1 linked to it.  If not, drag it in from "Port Map Objects" below
5. It's a good idea to name and save your mapping, then close the MIDI Devices window

At this stage, all data on MIDI Yoke 1 will go to Yokes 2 and 3, which isn't what you want.  You need to filter it.

6. Open up View->Port Routings...
7. Right-click the grey box on the line from Yoke 1 to Yoke 2 and select Properties...
8. On the Connection Properties, deselect the channels you want to stop (or click None, then select the ones you want to pass), then click OK
9. Repeat for Yoke 1 to Yoke 3

You'll see that Yoke 1 only has 16 channels from the above.  Like I said, there's no way you can get more than that down a single MIDI Port.
