data arriving at MIDI-OX, nothing in input monitor

I've been using MIDI-OX (7.0.2.372) and LoopBe1 to translate NRPN input from an old Korg ES-1, and send it to Ableton Live to control various parameters. NRPN commands from the ES-1 go through a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 interface, are translated to CC commands and routed to LoopBe Internal MIDI within MIDI-OX, and finally taken as input to Ableton. Without doing this, i.e. without using MIDI-OX/LoopBe1, I can run the ES-1 straight into Ableton, but all of the knobs send data on CC6, which obviously has limited usefulness. It's very convenient to use MIDI-OX to translate and map the distinct NRPN values coming from each knob to different CC numbers.

Usually, I open MIDI-OX, turn on the ES-1, and see information flowing through the input/output monitors in MIDI-OX, indicating that the software is receiving data from the hardware. Today that didn't happen, and indeed, no information appears in the MIDI Status window when I use the ES-1 either. Rebooting (Win7 Pro 64bit) didn't solve anything.

The MIDI Port Activity window in MIDI-OX has three rows of LEDs; two rows in the Input Ports section (Saffire Pro24 MIDI and MIDI-OX Generated Event) and one row in the Output Ports section (LoopBe Internal MIDI). The RT LEDs in the Pro24 and LoopBe rows are constantly blinking, and turning knobs on the ES-1 causes the LEDs for port 11 to blink in these same rows, seemingly indicating that data is arriving at MIDI-OX. My other MIDI devices cause LEDs to blink under their respective ports as well. In the Input Ports section, none of the LEDs in the MIDI-OX Generated Event row blink at any time, but I don't remember if this was the case when everything was working before. Also, no information arrives in Ableton via LoopBe Internal MIDI. I can however still run the ES-1 (and other MIDI devices) directly into Ableton successfully via Pro24 MIDI, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the device, the MIDI cable, the Saffire Pro24, or Ableton.

So it seems like data is arriving at MIDI-OX, but something is going wrong once it gets there. It's also not clear to me whether anything leaving MIDI-OX either. The blinking LoopBe Internal MIDI output port 11 LED seems to indicate that something is leaving MIDI-OX, but the lack of responsiveness to LoopBe Internal MIDI in Ableton suggests otherwise. My understanding of MIDI is surface-level at best, so perhaps I'm misinterpreting the MIDI Port Activity info. I've uninstalled and reinstalled MIDI-OX and LoopBe1, rebooting each time, and I've changed nothing about the routing from Pro24 MIDI to LoopBe Internal MIDI in MIDI-OX. Please help me understand what's going on here.

I hope my issue is clear, thank you in advance for any advice.

soundl like a midi port is locked up and midi ox is not receiving the data

try shutting everything down
Unplugging the midi interface shut down the pc re-boot, then plug in the midi interface

see if it clears the issue

Thanks for the suggestion, I powered down and unplugged the Saffire Pro24, shut down the computer, rebooted, plugged the Saffire back in and turned it back on...
still no luck, situation is the same as before

Hi Austin
Right click on the input window and select MIDI Filter or go to the Menu: Options/Midi Filter - check that you haven't turned something ON. Most of the the boxes should be unchecked.

Try unchecking everything
