SysEX Patch Dump Problem with Prophet 600

Hi everybody,
i would like to dump my Prophet 600 (with Teensy Mod) Patches via Sysex.
Midi connection works (Midi Port activity positive).
When i dump the patches by command from the synth panel, MidiOx Port Activity Display shows activity on Midi channel 1 and on the dedicated SysEx "LED" for 3-4 seconds. Then my Prophet 600 Display shows "Dump completed" but: there is no data in the MidiOx Sysex Command or Display window, also no failure message on MidiOx.
(FYI: Sysex-Dump executed from the MidiOx ("Receive Manual Dump" has no effect at all)
What could be wrong ?
Thanks in advance,
Soda

So ...
There are 2 Monitor screens Monitor - Output is always there and you can get the Monitor Input  by going to View / Input Monitor..

Are you getting any data displayed on the Monitor Input window?
Right click on the window and see if the option below View is Start the display.
If it is then the click it because the window has been disabled.

Same thing for the Monitor Output.

Right click again and select Midi Data Filter.
Make sure the Display SysEx messages in Monitors is checked.
Most of the other things should be UN-checked.

Right click again and select Data Mapping
Make sure the Turn Map On (after OK) is un-checked.

Let me know how you get on.

All the best

Hi,

I cannot get sysex data from my Prophet 600 w/the Gligli/Teensy upgrade into MIDIOX Huh

I'm pressing the "Record" button until it begins to blink, then I press the "2" button, but I do not get any sysex data.

I checked the instructions above but my MIDIOX system seems setup correctly.

I have both Monitor OUTPUT and Monitor INPUT screens,
I have the MIDI Port Activity window open too (although I cannot watch it when sending data)

I click View - Sysex - Sysex - Receive Manual Dump and MIDIOX is ready ... the little screen say's "0 Bytes received" and the Monitor Input screen stay's blank until I start playing notes.

However, if I play any note on the Prophet 600 I see the MIDI data coming into MIDIOX.

Somehow I don't think my machine is sending sysex data out Huh

I don't think you can prevent a sysex message displaying some kind of information to the Monitor-Input window.
So if you don't  see anything there or the last 'light' in the row for your input port does not flash on the MIDI Port Activity window then I'm pretty sure your synth isn't putting the sysex out.

You will need to check  your synth.
The manual says you need to HOLD the Record button while hitting Program Select 2.

Another way to get the 600 to send a dump is to request it via Midi.
There is a request code for the original 600 in hex it is F0 01 00 21 F7  (given in the manual page 10-5)
The 21 (or 33 in decimal ) is program number and can be 00 to 63 (hex).

On the Midi Port Routing window in MidiOx connect MIDI-OX Event Port to the output port that is connected to your 600's input port.
Make sure Options / Pass Sysex is checked
You should see SYX highlighted in the tool bar at the bottom right of MidiOx's main window - you could also click there to turn it on or off.

Go to View / Sysex.. and on the new dialog SysEx View window type in
F0 01 00 21 F7
On the SysEx View window select Command Window/Send Sysex and the message should appear in the Output Monitor window as it is being sent to the 600.

If you don't get a reply from the 600 then it is likely that your version of the Teensy Mod may have changed things.
I can't help you with this so I suggest you try some of the forums associated with the mod.

All the best

Hi,

Thanks for the answer, I gave it a try but still no patch dump comes into the PC.

Still if I play a note on the keyboard I see incoming data so I know the MIDI cabling is working.

I wonder if anybody else using the Teensy/Gligli upgrade has this problem?

I have new (musical rather than effects) sounds that I have made and I'd like to capture and make a patch bank with them, but this seems out of reach for now.

Hi,

Yeah, I already posted the same message on several related websites, this is the first place I found an answer and I hope there's just a slight change to the answer that will fix my problem.

OK, I'll see if I can help

Found the manual for version 2 of the mod.
http://sfx.gligli.free.fr/zik/p600/Prophet600FirmwareUpgrade_en_stable_2 _0.pdf

Page 19 talks about the dumping procedure
"Saving
Miscellaneous Settings function “6” will send a SysEx dump of all presets on MIDI out.
Use your favourite SysEx utility to store it."

That would be MidiOx I guess  Cool. View / Sysex... Then on the new dialog  Sysex / Receive Manual Dump.
Create a file name with the save dialog box and then press the  Miscellaneous Settings function “6”  on the 600 and watch the byte count on MidiOx.
When it stops press the DONE button to save and close the file.

So the old instructions don't work any more.

The sysex parameter control has also been removed and replaced by CC (continuous controller ) messages.
Also you can't 'call' the data as there is no request message anymore.

Hope this helps

Royce
