Was stumbling around the net looking for a way to get my .SYX files of Factory sounds back into my Korg Wavestation. Will this MIDI-OX get the job done ?

Absolutely. Set up the Korg to receive the sysex. Start MidiOx and go to Options/Midi Devices and select you Midi interface in and out. Make sure you can see the Input and Output Monitor windows as well as the Midi Port Routing window (View menu options) Connect the MidiOx Event Port to your Midi interface Output Port in the Midi Port Routing window by left clicking on it and dragging it to to the Output Port. Check the Options/ Pass Sysex . If it is already checked then uncheck it and re-check it as there seems to be a bug in the program, at least there is on my system. View / SysEx.. to bring up the Sysex window. On this window File /Send Sysex File. Select your sysex file and when you click OK it should send the file to your synth. All the best Royce

Hi: I'm having the same issue, the Korg M1 is set correct, the sys files are good but missing some of the sound samples that make up the programs and combinations. I'm using the Edirol UA-25 for transfer, so I believe I am missing something regarding the set up of the Midi-OX. The m1 is not general midi so I don't know if thats the issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

Hi Bob the Korg M1 has a PCM card slot at the back for some extra waves. You need to have that card and it needs to be in the M1 to use those waves. You can load the presets that use those waves, but the patches won't sound. You can edit those patches so the Oscillator uses an internal M1 wave and then they will sound. All the best Royce

Hi Royce: The missing sound samples aren't related to the PCM sounds, it's the regular internal samples that are missing, like some have been filtered out. The regular factory sounds should transfer correctly but this is not the case. Thanks Bob

Hi Bob Now that is truly weird. Can you edit a patch and change the wave? I would go through and select each wave in turn and see if they will all sound. Perhaps you have a problem with one or more of the PCM ROMs on the main board. As I recall they are soldered in so they won't be loose in a socket (I could be wrong as it has been a while since I looked). The M1 does have a backup battery and it may be leaking and have corroded a track - most likely an address track to the ROM. A break in one of the higher address lines would cause this problem. Open it up and have a look. I have placed a copy of the M1 service manual on my web site for a short time. http://www.bwalk.com.au/pub/M1_Service_Manual.pdf Let me know how you get on. All the best Royce
