I have to change out the internal battery in my Peavey Transfex pro(guitar amp), to do so I need to back up the presets. Can I do this using my laptop and a usb to midi cable? I was googling software and this site came up, looked like a good starting point for me. Please help!!! Thank you!!!!!!

A laptop and MidiOx should work, but the cheap silver Chinese Midi USB interfaces, like this one from Amazon https://goo.gl/8txhl1 have often proved to be a problem with sysex. Depending on the sysex length that Peavey has for its patch dump, the Microsoft default driver has a problem, so I always recommend a Midi interface that has it's own driver on a CD or downloadable from the web. Use a Roland, Yamaha, Korg, M-Audio (MidiSport), Behringer anything that doesn't use the MS compliant driver. Try the one you have, but be prepared for it to fail. Perhaps you can borrow one just to save the patches - change the battery and reload the patches. If you want to, you are welcome to keep posting so I can help you through the process. All the best Royce
