Sending Program Change messages

Hi, I am using a Korg Nanokontrol2 to control an iPad app. I am not using a DAW, it is straight into the app. I also have a PC for editing the Nanokontrol, but these changes would need to remain when only connected to the iPad. I would like to be able to send Program Change messages by pressing a button on the Nanokontrol2. For example, one button to send Program Change #001, another button to send Program change #002, and so on. Korg has its own software for editing Nanokontrols, but unfortunately it does not allow you to assign program change messages to the buttons. I have seen online that Midiyoke may allow me to do this. If anyone can please explain if it is possible to do this I would be very grateful - please use the most basic explanations as I am not very familiar with Midi! Many thanks, Adam

The nanokontrol2 only has a very limited capability and will only transmit Note On, Note Off, CC (control change) and PB (Pitchbend) messages. So the rules out sending PC (Patch Change) messages from the NanoKonrol. You will need something in between the NanoKontrol and your iPad synth. I would first look for an iPad app that can connect to the NanoKonrol and the Synth app and be able to change CC or Note On/Off messages to Patch Change. NanoKontrol -> USB -> iPad -> iPad app that change the message -> iPad synth app To get MidiOx (MidiYoke won't help you) to work you would need NanoKontrol -> USB -> PC (MidiOx) -> MidiOx Data Map -> MidiOx -> Another device that would connect to the iPad You can get the NanoKontrol to output CC message into the PC and MidiOx can change it to Patch Change but how do you get it into the iPad? As the NanoKontrol only has 1 USB connector you cannot connect it to more than one device (PC or iPad). You would need another Midi Device that could connect to two USB ports. That is, the PC to the iPad Best of luck Royce

Hi Royce, thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for your helpful ideas - I will look into using an iPad app to do as you suggest. Best wishes, Adam
