Is there a random function in Midi-ox? I'm trying to recreate the "burbling" synth sounds that run in and out throughout Rush's track "The Camera Eye" It sounds like randomised VCF commands for each note. I'm guessing I can map the notes to VCF controls using Midi ox fairly straightforward, but I think the setting of the VCF is randomised. Probably an Oberheim on the original. Otherwise I'm going to have to set each note and there are hundreds!

Hi
this is more commonly done with the LFO in the synth.

Tell me what your setup and synths are and I'll see if I can help you.

All the best

Thanks for reply.
Yamaha YPP50 Piano
1 octave midi pedals
Yamaha QY70 tone generator/sequencer
Akai MPK 49 Midi controller
AMT8 emagic midi distributor
The QY70 has an XG sound set but the sounds are editable in a limited way including, happily, LFO.
Thanks for any help

Hi
An XG synth's capabilities vary and unfortunately I can't find any mention for a LFO random wave setting in the QY70's sound generator.
I can't see that the Yamaha YPP50 could be used for this either.

The only thing I can think of is looking at some effects.
Try Chorus, Flanger, Phaser or Delay etc playing around with the feedback and the LFO amount along with the adjusting LFO frequency . It does go to 39.7Hz which is in to the audio range so it could be useful.

You can't seem to set a random wave for the LFO wave, but if you can stack a couple (or more) duplicate tracks together except for different effects with different LFO frequencies  you might get something useful.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

A few things to try there, thank you. I have by chance found a patch on the QY called Big Pan. It's pretty close, and with some judicious sequencing I reckon it's doable. Many thanks for your time and knowledge.
