Midi-ox to figure out my system?

Hi Jamie: What a logically designed and comprehensive program, (seems like an oxymoron to say that). Thanks for all the hard work, and obvious pride in quality. My objective is to become knowledgeable in how to send any executable info that my PSR-540 is capable of from cakewalk Pro-audio 9. For instance, I have been struggling with how to figure out simply to send a sysex at the beginning of each program to turn the reverb off, as I use outboard gear for that. I am guessing that I can use midi-ox to determine the format of various sysex messages that the psr uses (I can't decipher the manual), and from monitoring the psr's output, figure out how to do other stuff. Am I way off course, or am I on the right track? Thanks

You're definitely on the right track To turn off Reverb in a standard MIDI way (SysEx is device specific by it's very design), try sending controller 91 (Reverb Depth), and set the value to 0. You can test this in MIDI-OX by using the Control Panel (View | Control Panel...). Choose Controller Event: Reverb Depth. Check Send All Channels [x], set the Value to 0 and Press Send.
