Emagic Soundiver(updated)

Hello, I have a Nord Lead keyboard. I need to save new patches on a patch editor/librarian program. Therefore, I purchased SoundDiver. SoundDiver does not recognize any thing from my keyboard. It always states Nord Lead is not responding or midi connection failure. There is nothing wrong with my midi connection and there is nothing wrong with my keyboard. All midi channels are matched and SoundDiver does not shake hands with my keyboard or any other equipment that I have here. Will Midi yoke solve this problem? Thanks, BigAl

What are you using for a computer MIDI interface? I don't have any immediate suggestions except that you could use MIDI-OX to verify that your Nord is able to dump to and receive SysEx dumps from the computer. SoundDiver works by issuing SysEx commands to various gear, and then receiving SysEx data from them.

The Winman 4x4/S is a fairly reliable interface. I am now wondering if some other installed MIDI driver is tripping SoundDiver up? I have heard that when using eMagic's Logic, the user needs to disable certain input ports (MIDI Yoke for instance - to avoid feedback) in a Logic section of WIN.INI. This is because by default, Logic comandeers all the input drivers (like OMS on the MAC). Is there something similar for SoundDiver?

Ok, good. I think we're getting somewhere. Is SoundDiver supported in Win 2000? Turn off all of the MIDI Yoke Input ports to see if you can get it running. I'm going to guess that you turn them off by setting them to 0? It's just a guess: Code: [SoundDiver] MidiIn_Winman_4x4_S_Input_1=1 MidiIn_Winman_4x4_S_Input_2=1 MidiIn_Winman_4x4_S_Input_3=1 MidiIn_Winman_4x4_S_Input_4=1 MidiIn_Winman_4x4_S_SMPTE_In=1 MidiOut_Winman_4x4_S_Output_1=7 MidiOut_Winman_4x4_S_Output_2=7 MidiOut_Winman_4x4_S_Output_3=7 MidiOut_Winman_4x4_S_Output_4=7 MidiOut_Winman_4x4_S_SMPTE_Out=7 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___1=0 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___2=0 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___3=0 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___4=0 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___5=0 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___6=0 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___7=0 MidiIn_MIDI_Yoke_NT___8=0 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___1=7 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___2=7 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___3=7 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___4=7 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___5=7 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___6=7 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___7=7 MidiOut_MIDI_Yoke_NT___8=7 |
| Give this a try... You may want to ask eMagic about how to disable ports too.

Yes! SoundDiver supports WindowsNT4.0 and Windows2000. They also say to disable a port use 0, and to enable a port use 1. I will give your configuration a try. Thanks, BigAL
