I may have figured out a fix for having to do Multiple Restores until the ICONS are returned to their original locations.

First, make sure you have the Icons where you want them.

Now, Uninstall the Desktop Icon Restore program. DO NOT REBOOT!

Run "Regedit.exe"

If you don't know how to use REGEDIT then get help!

Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JOConnell

Make sure you have JOConnell highlighted.

Press DELETE and then click YES when asked if you want to permanently delete it.

Exit Regedit

Now reinstall the latest version of Desktop Icon Restore. Currently 1.6.3.031 as of 03-30-2013.

Make sure you download the correct version, either the x86 32bit version or the 64bit version as needed.

Right-Click and SAVE the Desktop.

This is so far working for me using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit.
