I have downloaded MIDI-OX version 6.5. I have a new computer bought June 02 with Windows 2000 v5.00.2195 Service Pack 2 installed. However on trying to install version 6.5 of MIDI-OX I receive the message:
This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows installer service.

I have not been able to find which version of the Windows installer service is installed on my PC but I am surprised I am experiencing this problem especially considering the suggested download from Microsoft to solve this problem has a release date of Sept 2001.
Fortunately version 6.2 is available on the Yamaha site and I can install this so it is not a major problem. However I thought I'd post this message in case anyone else had experienced something similar. If anyone can suggest a solution that is not too complicated I would be grateful. Thanks,

Windows 2000 is up to Sevice Pack 3: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp3/default.asp

You can install the Windows Installer update (1.5MB download) instead of SP3: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=32832

Windows 2000 SP2 has been available since at least May 16, 2001. The Windows Installer update was released Sept. 25, 2001. So you can see why it is missing from your machine...

MIDI-OX Version 6.2 is pretty ancient. We have 6.4.2 available here, in addition to 6.5.
