Title: Alternatives to using scripts?
Post by ml on Nov 16th, 2004, 8:41am
HI, I am new here and I love this software (and website). I have been using midiOX for few months, especially for its superb mapping possibilities. I use it to trigger many midi devices in realtime - that is: to play many different synths from only one keyboard (and foot pedals). However, mapping is not enough for me and I want to add some AND, OR, XOR operations and possibly IF, FOR, WHILE sentences... I guess, I need to use scripts to do that.. right?   ???

I searched the web for easier alternatives and found this software:  http://vmm.audionetwork.be/

It is called Virtual Midi machine and it offers MIDI processing capabilities, and it seems a bit easier than using scripts. Could i use this proggy in conjunction with midi OX to accomplish my tasks, or will it be easier (more elegant) with scripts?

..and which script language would you suggest? i thought about jscript, since it seems widely used.

Any comments are welcome!

VMM does allow you to specify which MIDI Yoke virtual ports to send and receive messages on. Dunno if this answers your question.

Also, I prefer JScript over VBScript because it more closely resembles C++ and Java, so it should be easier to learn for most programmers.
