Title: MIDI YOKE XP Home Edition Laptop installation fail Post by djclinton on Jan 2nd, 2005, 4:16pm Hi Gang, The sad thing is, I hold myself in high regard for installing and so on and so forth. So I'm literally pulling my hair out and now, with cap in hand, I ask for help. I've installed this in One laptop for a friend of mine, and it works. I've installed it in a Desktop machine for my studio, and, guess what, it works. I've just gotten a Centrino Compaq widescreen laptop, which I love, and it doesn't install properly.... DAMN. I'm putting in version 1.71 BETA. It actually installs, which is nice, but it isn't there. As in, it is in the Hardware Manager, but it isn't in my MIDI software as a MIDI device. Strange... I thought it may have something to do with the uncompressed myokent.dll file that I have read over and over. But I'm not sure whether I am supposed to delete that from the windows/system32/ folder? When I select properties on the driver, and expand on it, the first dialogue opens with two select buttons, with nothing written beside them, I then click settings and am unable to change the numer of ports from 8, everything else seems to be ok. Status: Driver is installed but not functioning properly. If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be wicked. Thanks Clinton |

Title: Re: MIDI YOKE XP Home Edition Laptop installation Post by Jamie OConnell on Jan 3rd, 2005, 2:47pm The uncompressed myokent.dll MUST be in System32 folder (but should ONLY be there). The number of ports is hardwired to 8: that cannot be changed under Windows XP (NT, 2000). The status message indicates that the driver may not have been fully installed due to a Windows bug. Check the FAQ (10 Entry Limit bug): http://www.midiox.com/mfaq.htm#whyFail |

Title: Re: MIDI YOKE XP Home Edition Laptop installation Post by djclinton on Jan 3rd, 2005, 4:18pm Thanks Jamie, That ROCKS! I love registry editing and little bits of information like that. For anyone who has this same problem, ensure that you uninstall the driver, then follow the instrucstions above, then re-install after a reboot. Thanks again, and have a good year Clinton |
