Title: Help removing midi yoke files from XP
Post by Patrick2 on Jun 28th, 2005, 9:40am
I installed midi yoke on xp pro, rebooted and windows wouldn't load - it just freezes on a black screen.
So I rebooted with 'last settings that worked' dialogue.

I'm trying to remove midi yoke but it doesn't appear in the sound hardware list, and when I try to delete myokent.dll it says it is in use/access denied, I can't find the relevant process to end so how can I delete it?
thanks

I have exactly the same problem..

Installed midi yoke nt, reboot, hang on black screen during windows xp pro startup..

Last good config. works, and to my surprise, so does midi yoke.. in Logic and midi-ox, but driver does not show up in device manager, so i can't unistall.

Re-installing creates same black screen hang.

Any manual uninstall instructions available?

Mark.

Title: Uninstall MIDI Yoke: Windows XP
Post by Jamie OConnell on Jul 2nd, 2005, 2:15pm
In Windows XP, go to the control panel.

1) Launch the "Sounds and Audio Devices" applet.
2) Choose the [Hardware] TAB, scroll down to "MIDI Yoke NT Driver"
3) Click [Properties]
4) Choose [Driver] TAB
5) Click [Uninstall]

To remove the driver itself:
After reboot, go into Windows\System32 folder and delete myokent.dll

Alternate Method 1
1) In Control Panel, Choose "System"
2) Choose [Hardware] TAB
3) Click on [Device Manager]
4) Scroll to "Sound, Video and Game Controllers"
5) Right-click on "MIDI Yoke NT Driver"
6) Choose "Uninstall"
7) Reboot.

After reboot, go into Windows\System32 folder and delete myokent.dll

Alternate Method 2
If the driver is not listed in either place, see if it is listed in the registry under:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32"

If there is a name-value pair similar to MIDI3  "myokent.dll", then delete that entry.  Reboot.

After reboot, go into Windows\System32 folder and delete myokent.dll

P.S.
If there are several name-value pairs similar to MidiN  "wdmaud.drv", then delete the extra entries (leave one).  The extra entries (added by Windows) may prevent future MIDI driver installs.  Reboot.

Please use care when editing the registry!
