Title: port-mapping by prg-change
Post by jazznose on Apr 15th, 2003, 4:22am
Hi,

I tried to select different port mappings by the prg-change mapping function.

When sending the prg-change data, the selected data mapping (in the Map Location column) is applied and the port mapping (in the Port Map Preset column) is even indicated in the monitor window, but is not applied. When I return to the port mapping window (Midi Devices) the old port mapping is still active. I can select via preset the desired port mapping and it works. Why doesn't it work through the prg-change mapping? Did I make s.th. wrong?

I am using MIDIOX 6.5.1 on an XP-Home platform.

Thanks, regards

MIDI-OX can not open MIDI devices while processing a MIDI receive interrupt.  Because of this, you need to have any devices that will be used by a Port Mapping already open.  If the all devices used by the original and new port mapping are already opened, then the Port mapping can reroute the devices.  Is this what you are seeing?

Jamie,

Thanks for fast reply.

I could create the desired structure with help of your advice: I opened 4 midi-yoke outputs (2,3,4,5) and saved 4 presets with the input (yoke 1) active one at each of them  respectively. If I send a certain prg change, the dedicated preset selects the according yoke output. On this way, I can switch remotely the midi stream to different yoke-output devices.

When unselecting midi-ox events input at the outputs in the port mapping window and then storing in a preset, after recalling the preset the midi-ox events are selected again as input, but no midi-ox events are transferred through this output (if no further input for this is selected). This is okay for me, as I don't want the midi events being transmitted throught that output in that case, but it confused me that the the midi-ox event input in the mapping window is displayed again.

In generell: MIDI-OX is a very very strong and excellent tool which helped me a lot! My question: I want to pass a donation now. If I once decide to use it professionally and requiring the licence, can a credit the donation sum against the licence?

Thanks

That would be fine with us, but the ecommerce site is not setup to perform that type of discounting.  You would have to specify your name when donating and then send the payment difference via snail mail.   Alternatively, you could make a donation now (specify to let us know your name), and then make another donation later (making up the difference), and we will email you a license.  Or you could just purchase a license now and be done with it.

Can I send the donation via the Amazon Honor System and mail my name in parallel?

Well yes, but when you make an Amazon donation it asks you whether you want to let us know who you are or remain anonymous.  If you wish to do that outside of the Amazon system it's OK.
