Title: Mr. NI B4 & Mrs. MIDI-OX/YOKE
Post by bruh_jun on Jan 23rd, 2004, 1:19pm
I just happened to stumble across a midi website that mentioned MIDI OX and MIDI YOKE.  It SOUNDS like what I'm looking for but I don't know; I tried to read the MIDI OX and YOKE description on the pages provided but it still didn't seem clear.  So here's the question and anyone who can put the answer in child-like fashion I would be greatly appreciative.

I have Native Instruments B4.  When I use the program, I run it thru Cakewalk Sonar's reverb effect (called Lex. Partheon).  What I need to know is that if I connect two midi keyboards, a midi pedal board, and a midi control panel via a midi merger (like the midisport 4x4), could MIDI-OX/YOKE make sure each note plays on it's respective channel?  Could MIDI-OX/YOKE do that, also, without creating a large delay (latency)? Could MIDI-OX/YOKE do all that AT A LIVE PERFORMANCE? Or, to put it another way, does MIDI-OX just record or can it be used in conjunction with my NI B4 during a live recording?

Thanks for being patient and kind enough to answer my seemingly foolish questions.

Yes, but you may not need MIDI-OX nor MIDI Yoke to do what you want.  If you have the Lexicon Pantheon, you must also have SONAR 3, right?  Are you loading the B4 into SONAR as a DXi?

In any case you should be able to setup your Keyboard and Pedal board to transmit on 2 different channels?  If you can do that and the MIDISport has MIDI merging capabilities then you can just route the merged input into a SONAR track: each instrument will still be on it's original channel.

If instead, you are running the B4 stand-alone, then I don't see how you could load the Pantheon?  But you could still select each MIDI input device into the B4.
