Title: global 'mute' button?
Post by sengoku on Jul 12th, 2004, 1:49pm
hey there peoples,

i have just discovered midi ox and it's pretty much the answer to my dreams (thanks to some limited thought on certain manufacturers/programmers parts), and now midi-ox bridges the gap, so to speak - it's wonderful! :D

i have a question though.

is there any way i can set a specific midi channel input (a note, for example) to stop *all* midi input being channeled through, until the same input is received again?

what i mean is, i want to set a button as a 'global midi mute', so i can changel controls on any midi kit i have attached without any of it being sent on through to the software, and then press the button again to 're-activate' everything back to how it was, sending data again :)

thanks for any replies, if i've not totally confused you all :D

There's no 'thru' disconnect button currently.  The closest thing to that would be the "Release MIDI" menu item on the System Menu.  Later, you can select it again as  "Attach MIDI" to restore connections.

nice one jamie, thanks :)

and thanks for a brilliant piece of software.

one question : if i 'release midi' how would i set a midi event to 'attach midi' - or does midox take the events before they've been 'routed'?

[edit : ignore me. i see the menu you mean. :D ]
