Title: Combination of MIDI-OX for XP and MIDI-QUEST-XL 9
Post by KH_FRANCIS_S-KOREA on Jul 28th, 2004, 2:47pm
Dear Mr. Jamie O'Connell at Midi-ox (http://www.midiox.com)
Dear Sound Quest Inc at (http://www.squest.com)

Thank you for these wonderful program pieces. :)
I think it certainly expands the power of various midi enviroments.

I have two questions on how I can utilize Midi-ox and Midi-yoke upto their maximum capacity
with Cakewalk pro audio 9, Midi-quest-XL9, WAMI RACK 24, and YAMAHA-SY85.

1. There is a problem in receiving sysx messages from Yamaha SY85 to Midi-quest-XL.  :o
  This problem occured After installing Midi-ox and Midi-yoke.

  I removed Midi-ox and Midi-yoke from my computer but still the same problem remains.  :P

  The explanation in the manual wasn't matching my XP program appearance.
  So, I went to 'Control pannel -> System - Hardware -> Device manager -> Sound, Video & Game controler'
  and clicked on the Midi-yoke driver and removed it.
  Was this uninstallation properly done?

2. If everything can work together well, I want to wire my midi tools as following.

  Cakewalk pro audio 9 + Midi-Quest XL 9 <-> WAMI RACK 24 <-> Yamaha SY85  ::)

  I do not yet know how I use Midi-ox and Midi-yoke to do as above.
  Would you please give advice on this, please. :'(

I hope you can give me good answers on these questions soon.
Thank you for your support in advance.

Sincerely, Mr. Ki Hoon. FRANCIS. KANG. SOUTH-KOREA  8)

Neither MIDI-OX nor MIDI Yoke should affect your abiulity to receive SysEx in other Hardware or Software.

The uninstall was done properly.  The problem likely remains because it was not caused by MIDI-OX or MIDI Yoke in the first place.

I do not possess MIDI-Quest, but it looks like you may want to attach it in parallel to CWPA9 to feed MIDI to Yamaha device.  If you have multi-client MIDI Drivers you can do it without MIDI Yoke:

[Hardware MIDI]->[CWPA9]------>WAMI Rack...
             |->[MIDI-Quest]->|

If you DO NOT have multi-client MIDI drivers you may need MIDI-OX and MIDI Yoke like:

[Hardware MIDI]->[MIDI-OX]->[Out:MIDI Yoke 1:In]->[CWPA9]--------->[Out:MYoke2:In]->[MIDI-OX]->WAMI Rack...
                                                 |->[MIDI-Quest]->|
