I have a set of StudioLogic MP-113 bass pedals that output simple velocity sensitive MIDI notes. I'm trying to map the first C and D notes to Start and Stop MIDI Messages on my Yamaha Clavinova CVP-98.

When I monitor the output of the pedals (via MIDI-OX input monitor), I see notes 24 and 26 for the notes C and D on the pedals. This is a little unexpected as the manual says the pedals should output from the "first low C". So in any case, I presume that the pedals are outputing from note 24 on up as that is what is showing up on the input monitor of MIDI-OX.

I can get a start message my mapping to Any Note On message, however the only way I could map to a specific note was to trigger on notes 36 (C) and 38 (D).

So my question is, why is MIDI-OX's input monitor window telling me that it's seeing notes 24 and 26, but my data mapping only works when I match on notes 36 and 38?

By default the Monitor displays data in HEX. This is the most common way to display MIDI status and values. However the Map always uses decimal. You can view the Monitor in decimal by right-clicking and choosing "Display Decimal".

24 Hex = 36 decimal
26 Hex = 38 decimal

Jamie, thank you for your quick answer. That now makes sense. Seems like just by chance there is that confusion between hex and decimal right at the 2nd and 3rd octaves on the first couple of notes.
