Title: Is this possible?  Blending via expression pe
Post by progmr on Sep 22nd, 2006, 3:15pm
Hello:

Assuming one has 2 instruments (say horns and strings) both on a single channel and that the level can be controlled via expression pedal.  Is it possible to remap the incoming MIDI to behave differently for each instrument?

What I imagine is CC7 can be from 1-127.  Remap CC7 to send both CC7 (horn level) and CC27 (string level).  Now if the pedal is in the direct middle say 63, both CC7&CC27 receive a value of 63, however if CC7 is 1, CC27 is 127 (thus full strings), finally if CC7 was 40 then CC27 would be 86...and so on.  Basically this would allow one to blend the two instruments via a single expression pedal.

I'm really hoping someone has a solution and can walk me through what needs to be done as this would be awesome functionality.

Thanks!

You've pretty much explained exactly how to do it :).

In a Data Mapping, insert a rule:
Input: Any Ctrl 7 - 7; 0 - 127
Clone: yes
Output: Match, Match, 27 - 27; 127 - 0

That way as CC7 goes up, CC27 goes down.
