Title: key mapping specific to the current program
Post by jpompeii on Sep 11th, 2007, 7:46am
Hi,
I have an application that I hope MIDI-OX will work for.  I have a sample library that I'm using with the Kontakt sampling instrument.  For each sample, this library defines a block of keys on the left side of the keyboard to control various expressions.  The keys on right side produce the sounds.  The problem is that this library was designed for a 5 octave keyboard and I have a 37 note Korg Prophecy.  What I need to do is map (transpose) the control keys so that all the keys can fit on the keyboard.  I can see how I'd do that with MIDI-OX.  The problem I have is that every sample patch puts the control keys in a different place so the mapping would have to be specific to each one.  So in other words, when a program change key is pressed on the MIDI keyboard,  I need to use a different mapping for the current program.  Is there a way to build program-specific maps and then activate the right map via program change midi events?

thank you very much for taking the time to help!

Take a look at this thread:

If that's a but much to chew on to start with, look up patch mapping in the help file, which should explain what's going on in the thread.  The thread points out a few common pitfalls.

Hi !

Why don't you just map those controller keys to the FCB1010 and do the expression control from there... free's you a hand additionally.

There would be two ways. One would be to setup/program the FCB1010 to send a specific note on suiting your requirements. The other would be to leave the FCB1010 in its standard mode and map the controller values to note ons via MIDIOX.

Hope that helps.

best regards
RKW
