I play from an old Clavinova to a more modern keyboard which I use as a sound module - about 400 voices in all. I have figured how to use a mapping to remap the 8 voice buttons on the Clavi to call up voices of my choice on the output keyboard.
So far so good.
I've then inserted at the head of such a mapping the two lines of the keyboard split.
My patch no. remaps continue to work for channel 1 (the upper half of the keyboard) but I can't figure how to get the effect to work for the lower half. I'm obviously not 'getting' some very basic concept.

Play the Keyboard and look in the Monitor. You say the upper half transmits on channel 1. What channel does the lower half transmit on?

The mappings allow you to target and convert specific channels.

Morning, Jamie, and thanks for your responses.
As so often seems to happen, when one is not quite sure what one is doing, another factor seems to kick in. Last night, I had been playing from one keyboard to the other through Midi-Ox, as described in my posts. This morning, I boot up to follow your suggestion, and - nothing ! Neither keyboard produces any audible effect on the other.
I have checked via my notation software, and they interact perfectly there, so it's not a physical connection issue. I've been in Midi-Ox for over an hour, and so far as I can see, in the various windows, everything is 'seen' and connected as it should be.
Is there a specific setting which would account for this ?

Generalising a bit from here: how can I, in a situation like this, get back to a absolutely fresh vbirgin restart ?
Midi-Ox seems to have a memory like an elephant. It still shows another keyboard I briefly connected and shall not again. The manual talks of saving to the registry. I have done complete uninstalls, deleted everything that still shows up on a search, run a registry clean, then re-installed, ands there are STILL items like this showing up from previous installations !

According to Microsoft guidelines, programs are NOT supposed to remove information from HKCU when un-installed. MIDI-OX obeys this guideline, so a later re-install will still have information from a previous one.

All settings in MIDI-OX are available through the UI though, so no registry hacking really needs to be done.

First verify 'Options | MIDI Devices...' to ensure you are targeting and enabling the desired MIDI drivers. Then open 'View | Port Routings...' and ensure that you have the input-output connections set as desired.

Hint: the 'MIDI-OX Event port' is a virtual port used to send MIDI-OX generated events and MIDI-OX hosted SysEx data.
