Title: Cubase, Tetra and Tetra editor midi settings Post by barderc on Dec 9th, 2009, 7:23am Hi there - hoping someone can help me. My setup is as follows: Novation SL midi controller keyboard linked via USB to my PC. Dave Smith Tetra synth module linked via USB to my PC. Cubase 5 music software. Tetra software editor. Objective 1: To set up a midi track in Cubase 5 so that I can record notes Cubase via the Novation SL, to be played back via midi on the Tetra (having also created an audio track in Cubase to receive the audio signal coming out of the Tetra). Objective 2: At the same time, to be able to run the Tetra software editor so that I can select presets on the Tetra and adjust its settings (filter cutoff etc.) on screen. Issue: To achieve Objective 1 I have set the midi input in Cubase 5 to all midi inputs. I have set the midi output to the Tetra. However, to use the software editor, I think that within the Tetra software in its midi menu, I have to set the midi in to Tetra and the midi out to Tetra. Result: At present the Cubase 5 midi track will not play the Tetra unless the editor is also running. I have also been mucking around with the Tetra's global midi settings so no doubt have made things worse. PLEASE can an expert advise how to configure the midi in and midi out on the Cubase midi track + any necessary global midi settings in Cubase + the midi settings on the Tetra (midi thru on or off, local control on or off etc.) + the midi settings on the Tetra software so that I can achieve both of the above objectives. Is this actually possible or do I need a virtual midi patcher like midi yoke etc? Many thanks in advance for your help. |

Title: Re: Cubase, Tetra and Tetra editor midi settings Post by Peter L Jones on Dec 10th, 2009, 3:01pm Do you want to be able to record in Cubase the changes you are making with the editor so that they'll be there in your composition? You'll be needing MIDI Yoke and maybe MIDI OX installed on your system. You either need to route the editor, through MIDI Yoke, into Cubase and then out to the synth. Or you need to route Cubase and the editor through MIDI Yoke and MIDI OX and out to the synth. |
