Title: noteon+cc -> different note ons depending on cc
Post by wdreamsmaycome on Jan 7th, 2011, 2:01pm
subject says it all, I'd like to map a specific note in input to two notes in output depending on the value of an unrelated CC

if, say, foot pedal is < 20 noteon=x becomes noteon=y
if, say, foot pedal is >=20 noteon=x becomes noteon=z

is this possible? From what I can see midi-ox is very 1:1 (as in, it's not possible to map multiple events in input to one event in output) but maybe it's possible to do something like this via going through multiple mappings (say, foot pedal changes some sort of map somewhere used for the noteon mapping)

does anybody have any idea about this? The usage for this is for rock band, which does not support the HH pedal but requires two discrete noteon values for HH hits with pedal open/closed, I'd like to map things so that I can play the HH as normal and it'd output 'hh open' with pedal open and 'hh closed' with pedal closed.

after some searching in the forum and a lot of experimentation I was able to set this up by having two instances of midi-ox connected to each other via mapping cc#4 to PC in midi-ox-1 and PC to two different maps in midi-ox 2 :)
