Title: Convert breath control to aftertouch Post by gonzomaster on Oct 28th, 2011, 1:06pm Hello! I do not know Midi Ox, but I want to use it for the following problem: I use a breath controller (EWI) which is per MIDI connected with a USB-Audio-Interface (Fast Track Pro). On my netbook I use a Softsynth (Korg M1) with special banks for breath controlling. The Softsynth is a standalone, but also part (vst) of a sequencer software (Cakewalk sonar LE). For using the Softsynth properly, I received the following recommendation: Convert Breath Control (CC02) to Channel Pressure (aka Aftertouch). Do you have a hint if I can do that with MIDIox (only for the Korg M1 Synth) and how...? Please describe it in a simple way! ;-) Thanks, gonzomaster |

Title: Re: Convert breath control to aftertouch Post by Peter L Jones on Oct 29th, 2011, 6:50am You have: [EWI MIDI Out]->[FTPro MIDI In]->{Sonar} At some point in that signal chain, you want to add a data mapping from Breath Control to Channel Aftertouch. As this is going to be in software, clearly it needs to happen between your FTPro and Sonar. [FTPro MIDI In]->{MIDIOX} ... {Sonar} OK, so "MIDIOX" is obvious. What's the "..."? That gets filled in with MIDI Yoke: [FTPro MIDI In]->{MIDIOX}->[MIDI Yoke Out 1] [MIDI Yoke In 1]->{Sonar} (Other virtual MIDI cables are available.) In MIDIOX, then, you wire up the above configuration and then add a Data Mapping for the conversion you want to achieve. |
